40K Medical Transfers - Cast your vote!

I'm afraid it's more of the same again, but this time I'm making a proper, official poll of it. Myself and Scipio have started work on a not-so-top-secret 40k medical diorama. To make this a little easier, and for future usage, I am making up some medical symbol transfers.

This is where you come in.

From the list below, please pick two options from one of the winged caduceus symbols listed from A to D - this is probably the one that will appearing most commonly on troops, equipment and vehicles.

Also, please could you pick two from the "Adeptus I" symbols listed 1 - 6. These will also appear on crates, panniers and outbuildings and the like. You lovely observant readers will no doubt have noticed there's a few more here than were listed before. Number 3 is an adaption of the previous I Asclepius, but made to look less like an inverse dollar sign.... On this I have also added some decorative gubbins (partly as an attempt at subliminally referencing the six-pointed Star of Life, and also a Red (or Black) Cross of sorts). Number 4 is based on the Bowl of Hygieia, a symbol often associated with pharmacists (outside of the UK where it's pretty unknown as far as I'm aware). If you like one of the I symbols without the gubbins but think they look good, just add that to your comments - and vice versa if you like the symbol they are already on (3) but think the gubbins are bloody awful, tell me.

So which ones most clearly indicates medical, grimdark, 40k, and the Imperium? Or which ones look the coolest basically... thanks very much, your help is much appreciated. Once the votes have been rounded up and promptly cut up, burned, and buried in soft peat for 3 months counted, I'll upload the transfer sheet so you can all print out your own on transfer paper. The four most popular symbols will be put on the sheet in 3 sizes, along with a few other miscellaneous logos/symbols/designs etc.

Please pop your answers in the comments below, and thanks very much for your help!

That's all for now folks. Apologies if I'm a little quiet of late, currently applying for a new hospital post, so am all over the shop at the moment. Not literally of course, I'm just bloody busy....

Buffer's Request - Rather liking this one actually... was going to try and do 6 with another crossover of the heads - this is much simpler and better

Comments

  1. A, its simple but looks so good. I like C and D, B looks weirdly wide next to the others, but its A for me.

I love the 4, it's really cool and to me stands out amongst the six of them. I would still like to see a 5 with the crossed tails of 6, but appreciate you can't do everything! With the current 6 on offer I am going to vote only for 4 and defy your voting rules as I like it so much!

  2. A & D
    3 & 6

I like the gubbins and 6's double snake is good link to the symbols in the top 4 icons.

  3. Thanks both of you, will do that one as a special version for you when I get the chance Buffer

    1. See now that I like! Thanks for doing it. Of the 6 Imperial icons I now like that new one the best as it fits the original styling pretty seamlessly (retaining the scull), but I still like 4 second because I think its cool as!

  4. I have to mirror Dai - A & D, 3 & 6. Great looking stuff, man!

I also really like the last one you did at Buffer's request - that's very nice!

  5. I've gone for C although I do like A as well. And just the basic 1 and 2 they look very cool.

  6. 'A' really has the right scale and curves to it. Also I love the Guard style wings. 3 and 6 are by far the stand outs in my mind too. They are all awesome though.

  7. I gotta say I think it's 'A' all the way, as for the lower choices I'm going with 3 and 4. They might not have the double snake tie in but they are the most distinctive, and involve convoluted ancient imagery which is very 40K. I could definitely see either of them being symbols for official medicae staff or equipment. In a related unrelated note, some friends and myself are starting a Dark Heresy campaign. That's 40K role playing for the uninitiated, anyway my character is an adept, but more specifically he's a medicae/chirugeon. I liked your symbols so much that I used the 'A' symbol on a sketch of my character, so your work on this topic is already being put to good use.

  8. Thanks again for your comments, much appreciated. I've tried to refrain from stating which are my favourites, but I must say I rather like A (if I may say so myself :p)

Thanks very much Chris, are you going to be doing any write ups on the blog?

    1. Maybe, we really did just get started but I might steal some bits of fluff art that we've made and quickly hammer together an article. I try to refrain from too many RPG articles as I feel some of the excitement gets lost in translation.

    2. Very true, I'd love to read it if you do put something together though

  9. Very cool. I liked A and B, and 4 in particular. I was very taken with 4 because of the Bowl of Hygieia - it just seemed to fit really well. Whatever, it was a lot of fun voting!

  10. A. It's more compact than the others and when applying transfers to vehicles, there is often not a lot of space. Practical consideration rather than aesetic, but there you are.

  11. Thanks very much chaps. Zzzzzz think you're spot on there, the original was designed specifically for that, the last three were really meant to be closer representations of the sculpted version I saw properly after doing A. But whatever ends up on the transfer sheet, each will be tweaked to make sure the key detail is visible at all sizes

  12. I like A & D. Number 3 sticks out for me, I like the "cross" element of it (feels of a red cross while staying grimdark), and feel it will stand out more when reduced down.

    1. Thanks Ascended Host, I met my brief with "3" then - that was the idea with the cross element, as well as to relfect the "star of life" too (I think 3 is my favourite overall too).
